Maine Kayak extends its philosophy and approach to paddling to its employees. Being outdoors and doing what you love is a great way to spend your sea kayak season. We hope to foster in our sea kayak employees a love of the sport of kayaking, a strong outdoor-minded, environmental ethic, open communication in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and an enthusiasm for “The Way Paddling Should Be.”

Our employment opportunities are located on the Pemaquid Point in New Harbor, Maine. Our sea kayak shop on the Huddle Road next to Colonial Pemaquid State Park and Pemaquid Beach. We facilitate our sea kayak trips, lake kayak tours, kayak rentals and our main office at our sea kayak base.

Current Maine Kayak Positions –

 

Maine Sea Kayak Guide & Instructor:

Sea Kayaking guides are certified for leading day and overnight trips on coastal waters. Sea Kayaking guides will be employed for sea kayaking trips, including overnight sea kayaking trips. Sea Kayaking guides are required to have:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience sea kayak guiding
  • A valid Maine Sea Kayak Guide License
    Valid Basic First Aid Certification (or better)
  • ACA or BCU certification (preferred, not required)
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Knowledge of and experience with the trip location
  • Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guide Course

 

Maine Whitewater Kayaking Instructor:

Whitewater Kayaking Instructors are certified for leading and teaching whitewater kayaking. Whitewater Kayaking Instructors will be employed for whitewater kayaking courses and private instruction. Whitewater Kayaking Instructors are required to have:

  • A valid Maine Whitewater Guide License or a valid Maine Recreational Guide License
  • Valid CPR and Basic First Aid Certification
    ACA Whitewater Instructor Certification (preferred not required)
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Knowledge of and experience with the trip location

 

Maine Kayak Rental & Office Staff:

Rentals/Office staff are trained to provide customer service and facilitate kayak rentals at our New Harbor base. Rentals/Office staff are required to have:

  • Valid CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (preferred, not required)
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Knowledge of and experience with rental and trips locations
